Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) is a design and construction consortium established to deliver and maintain the Eglinton Crosstown LRT. CTS works with provincial partners to design, construct, and finance an integrated transit system consisting of 25 stations and stops, tracks, signals, communications system, as well as a maintenance and storage facility. Following the Crosstown’s completion, CTS will maintain the line for 30 years.
As creative partner to CTS, SOS provides on-going strategic and creative communications on a variety of projects. Our work over the last 3 years includes integrated public campaigns that promote safety and care around the construction zones, OOH ‘shop local’ campaigns to support local Eglinton corridor businesses, a full website redesign, corporate brochures, an art crawl, as well as an educational experiential installation at the Ontario Science Centre.
As one of the most diverse streets in Toronto, Eglinton is changing more than ever before. With the construction of the Eglinton LRT, Crosslinx’s goal was to remind everyone that their favourite local businesses on Eglinton are open and accessible through the process.
We designed a logo that speaks to the character of Eglinton: the seven shapes represent the seven different Eglinton Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) that support local businesses. Meanwhile, the black circle represents the tunnels of the Crosstown, running down the centre. The clean, geometric design presents Eglinton as a vibrant destination. This expanded into an out-of-home campaign which spans the corridor from Weston to Kennedy, including shopping experience, a safety campaign, a crosstown art crawl and a 20’ x 20’ interactive tunnelling installation at the Ontario Science Centre and at Doors Open Toronto.
